In 2007, through a series of challenging life events, I became very depressed and discovered Laughter Yoga on the internet. I relasied in that moment that here was a simple, practical way to make myself feel better. That it would enble me to break through my intense adult feelings. And yes! It worked!
Laughter Yoga is now an integral part of my skill set when I am out in the community as a Relaxation Massage Therapist. My clients are mostly seniors and adults with disabilities and I can help ease their pain through playfully singing, laughing, breathing and speaking gibberish with them as I massage.
Most importantly, I can laugh alone, for no reason. I know zillions of different ways to help myself through my darkest moments. I know how to breathe well, which always calms my anxiety. I know how to move my body, be childlike and playful. This reminds me to be hopeful and optimistic. I can sing and dance and giggle my way quickly into a better mood whenever I need to.
Laughter Yoga is a life changer. It is a valuable complimentary therapy and I love helping people to create sustainable health and happiness in NZ!
